Spain Banco de Espana 500 Pesetas 1.1.1884 Pick 27p1; 27p2 Front and Back Proofs PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ; Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ. The 1884 series of banknotes prepared for the Bank of Spain are incredibly rare in any format. Although dated 1884, this note was not issued until 1893. This series was withdrawn in 1911, and a high denomination like this was redeemable for a substantial amount of gold and silver coinage, leaving only a few examples extant. We have yet to offer this variety in this format, and missing from most relevant collections. Punch hole cancelled.
