Known for both its low mintage (only 756,000 pieces were struck) and the Large CC over Small CC "Capped Die" variety that accounts for about 40% of all certified survivors, the 1879-CC is exceeded only by the 1889-CC issue in scarcity among all Carson City Morgan dollars. Plentiful mint luster and Mint State sharpness remain on both sides of this 1879-CC Capped Die dollar despite the noted cleaning. Substantial eye appeal remains.
