CHINA. Qing Dynasty. Fujian. 50 Cash, ND (ca. 1853-55). Fuzhou Mint. Emperor Wen Zong (Xian Feng). VERY FINE.
Hartill-22.782; FD-2523. Weight: 99.72 gms. Variety with one dot Tong. Obverse: "Xian Feng Tong Bao"; Reverse: "Wu Shi". This decently preserved exhibits moderate signs of handling with most characters being nicely formed. Much of the naturally rough surface texture is intact, though the exposed areas do show signs of handling. The high points while offering mostly smooth surfaces do have numerous marks and abrasions lending to its originality and utilitarian nature of these issues. A Pleasing rich brown and brassy patina complement this large format issue and is sure to be a welcome addition to the next collection it enters.
