SICILY. Syracuse. Second Democracy, 466-405 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26.5 mm, 17.10 g, 3 h), circa 420-415. Charioteer driving slow quadriga walking to right, holding kentron in right hand and reins in left; above, Nike flying right to crown horses. Rev. ΣΥΡΑΚΟΣΙΟΝ Head of Arethusa to right, her hair bound in a sakkos, wearing a double spiral earring and a simple necklace; around, four dolphins. Boehringer 720 (V354/R491). SNG ANS 242 (same dies). Lovely representation of Arethusa. With the usual die-break on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
