Charles Towne (1763-1840) Two horses and a dog in a landscape, a castle beyond oil on canvas signed and dated 1827 43 x 51cm Oil on canvas cleaned and probably relined within the past 10 - 20 years ago, canvas remains tight and paint in good clean condition with traces of old but stable craquelure throughout, signed and dated lower left, housed in a later ornate giltwood frame which is in good order, label verso for Haynes Fine Art. Provenance: ex Haynes Fine Art of Broadway. This painting is illustrated in the dictionary of British equestrian artists by Sally Mitchell, page 429.
