HIGHLAND PARK 1973 28 YEAR OLD SINGLE CASKS #11151 AND #11167 ISLAND SINGLE MALT

HIGHLAND PARK 1973 28 YEAR OLD SINGLE CASKS #11151 AND #11167 ISLAND SINGLE MALT Orkney’s Highland Park distillery is situated in the town of Kirkwall on the site of an illicit still thought to have been operated by Magnus Eunson, a smuggler, local butcher and former priest who was directly descended from Viking settlers. With that heritage, it’s fitting that today they frequently draw from Scandinavian mythology when it comes to naming their whiskies. The distillery is known for its signature style that utilises Orcadian peat in the malting process, resulting in a fragrant, heathery spirit that is most often left matured in Sherry wood.Released as a pair, these two sister casks were laid down on the same day, and spent their 28 year maturation resting just a few feet apart from one another. Despite this, the resulting expressions are noticeably distinct in colour and flavour. This lot would make a fascinating head-to-head tasting!Distilled: October 1973Bottled: 22nd February 2001Sherry casks#11151 - Bottle Number 122 / 500 - 45.4% ABV / 70cl#11167 - Bottle Number 491 / 524 - 50.4% ABV / 70clQty: 2
