Albert Ebert, 1906 Halle/Saale - 1976, most important naive artist of the GDR, after primary schools various jobs as a labourer, soldier in WW II, after being wounded he began to paint in the military hospital. In 1946 he studied two semesters at the Burg Giebichenstein in Halle, painting with Professor Charles Crodel and drawing lessons with Waldemar Grzimek, but he continued to work as a (unskilled) labourer, in 1948 first exhibition, from 1956 he worked as a freelance painter, in 1959 the art historian Elmar Jansen made him known, in 1973 art prize of the city of Halle, works in numerous museums, among others collections. Museums and collections, e.g. Louvre Paris; here: Colourful circus hustle and bustle on the outskirts of the city, multi-figure oil/hardboard, small paint chips on the left edge and in the clown's face at the bottom, otherwise good original condition, 62 x 50 cm, signed, inscribed on verso "Ebert Wildenroth", in a beige wooden frame Note: Title and date in reference to a comparable painting.

Albert Ebert, 1906 Halle/Saale - 1976, bedeutendster naiver Künstler der DDR, nach der Volksschule versch. Tätigkeiten als Hilfsarbeiter, Soldat im WK II, nach Verwundung beginnt er im Lazarett zu malen, 1946 zwei Semester Studium an der Burg Giebichenstein in Halle, Malerei bei Professor Charles Crodel und Zeichenunterricht bei Waldemar Grzimek, aber weiterhin tätig als (Hilfs-)arbeiter, 1948 erste Ausstellung, durch Stipendium ab 1956 freischaffend als Maler tätig, 1959 machte ihn der Kunsthistoriker Elmar Jansen publizistisch bekannt, 1973 Kunstpreis der Stadt Halle, Werke in zahl. Museen u. Sammlungen, u.a. Louvre Paris; hier: Buntes Zirkustreiben am Stadtrand, vielfiguriges Öl/Hartfaserplatte, kleine Farbabplatzungen am linken Rand u. im Gesicht des Clowns unten, sonst guter originaler Zustand, 62 x 50 cm, signiert, verso bez.
