1798 S-156 R5+ Style I Hair, Reverse of 1796, Fine Detail, Environmental Damage, PCGS. Steel brown and chocolate with lighter brown on the highpoints from a light cleaning. The highpoints are smooth but a glass reveals microscopic roughness in the fields and protected areas. No verdigris and the only notable marks are a light rim bruise under the date and a dull nick at CA in AMERICA. MDS, Breen state II, with die cracks right of the date. The date is bold but some elements of the legends are weak or missing. Graded VG10 net VG7 and tied for CC#12 in the Noyes census, his photo #26582. This cataloger's EAC grade is net VG8. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. 36005.97/47249973.
