NEMIROVSKY IRENE: (1903-1942) Ukrainian Novelist. She lived a large part of her life in France, writing mainly in French. Arrested as a Jew under the racial laws, although she converted to Catholicism, she died at Auschwitz at the early age of 39. A scarce A.L.S., Irène Nemirovsky, two pages, 8vo, Paris, 25th November 1933, on her personal printed stationery, to Mr. Thibaut in French. The letter bears at the heading the printed initials I E [Irene Epstein], her husband´s name. Nemirovsky thanks her correspondent for having included her as collaborator of his magazine, further referring to her contract with Albin Michel, saying `..I cannot have my novels published in your magazine without his approval..´ Accompanied by the original envelope in her hand, post-stamped, with her name to the verso (`Mme Nemirovsky´).
