A LARGE FAMILLE ROSE PALETTE ‘LADIES PLAYING WEIQI’ PORCELAIN ROULEAU VASE, BANGCHUIPING CHINA, POSSIBLY LATE QING DYNASTY AND LATE 19TH CENTURY It is finely painted in vivid famille rose enamels with numerous characters in a continuous river shore landscape. On the neck, in the sky, is the Palace of Xiwangmu. On the body, a large number of characters are depicted, only women but for a man, two of them seated on rootwood chairs and playing weiqi, two other reading in a pavilion. The base bears two blue circles.
