QARMATID: Ibn al-Mu'izzi, AR fractional dirham (1.09g), Makka, AH370, A-687H, mint and date in the margin, with uncertain word below Allah in the center, with the mint engraved as on Zeno-245671 (anonymous, dated AH380) // al-imam / ibn al-mu'izzi in the center, Qur'an 9:30 in the margin; unpublished and unique, Fine, RRRR. The actual name of Ibn al-Mu'izzi is unknown. Al-Mu'izzi was the Qarmatid Alptegin, who took the honorific name al-Mu'izzi from the Buwayhid Mu'izz al-Dawla, whom he had formerly served. Coins of Alptegin al-Mu'izzi were struck at Palestinian and Syrian mints, dated AH364-368. Makka came under Fatimid authority in 362, and Fatimid dinars were struck at Makka all years AH363-366. Afterwards, the only Fatimid dinars (and no Fatimid silver) were struck in AH394, 420, and 442, after which there was no coinage struck at Makka until AH594 (Ayyubid).
