Amida Nyorai. Holz, Schwarzlack und Vergoldung. Edo-Zeit, wohl spaetes 17. Jh.

A lacquered and gilded wood figure of Amida Nyorai. Edo period, probably late 17th century Standing on a large lotus blossom above a circle of lotus blossom leaves and a round and stepped richly decorated base, both hands in raigô-in, behind the figure a mandorla carved in openwork with flames (probably of later date, restored). The eyes and both urna of glass. Total height 83 cm Provenance Collection Katharina and Alfred Hugo Schütte (1887-1958), Cologne, and thence by descent Amida Nyorai. Holz, Schwarzlack und Vergoldung. Edo-Zeit, wohl spätes 17. Jh. 4-tlg. Stehend auf einer Lotosblüte, über einem weit ausladenden Blattkranz und einem gestuften, runden Sockel. Beide Hände in raigô-in, (Lehrgestus). Hinter die Figur eingesteckt eine mit Flammen durchbrochen geschnitzte Mandorla (möglicherweise später). Rest. Augen und beide urna aus Glas. Gesamthöhe 83 cm Provenienz Sammlung Katharina und Alfred Hugo Schütte (1887-1958), Köln, seitdem in Familienbesitz
