Russian Silver Tea Caddy
Russian silver tea caddy. Modeled after an onion dome with scrolling foliage on a stippled ground. The interior silver gilt and cork cap with a ring-pull handle and an exterior lift-off conforming cover. Impressed along the underside with the following marks: maker's mark of Ivan Khlebnikov (Moscow, 1867-1871); Imperial Warrant stamp; 84 silver standard zolotnik. The cap and lid marked with an 84 zolotnik and Ivan Khlebnikov's maker mark. Provenance: Property from the distinguished collection of Mr. James Lee Soffer, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Height: 6 in x width: 3 3/4 in x depth: 3 1/2 in. Gross weight: 391.4 g. Condition: The cork has been replaced on the interior cap. Some wear on the underside consistent with use. Slight warping on the inside rim of the cover. Finial on the cover is slightly bent.
