1803 S-252 R2- Small Date & Fraction MS61 Brown PCGS. Glossy light steel brown and tan with darker steel brown toning on the highpoints and peeps of very faded mint color in a few places on the reverse. Looks mint state but there is a hint of friction on the highest points of the devices. Just minor contact marks including some hairlines on the neck, a horizontal line of microscopic ticks from the cheek into the hair, and some hairline scratches at ERICA. E-MDS, Breen state II early, with a faint crack through the 180. The obverse fields are hard and slightly reflective. Graded AU55 net EF40 and tied for CC#14 in the Noyes census, his photo #22956. Bland says AU50 and tied for CC#3. This cataloger's EAC grade is AU50. The attribution and Husak Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS Gold Shield label. A life member of the American Numismatic Association, and an early member of Early American Coppers who joined in 1973, Clinton George Hollins of Springfield, Virginia was an active dealer in early coppers who attended several annual EAC conventions. In the 1990s, Hollins advertised collectible stock certificates. Hollins was born on November 17, 1936 and is deceased.
