Carriage Pistol By Walter, Circa 1820 With continental russet sighted barrels (some scattered pitting) each stamped with a barrelsmith's mark at the breech, 'B' in an oval (originally gold-lined), engraved with a line of repeated foliage at the rear and with a starburst on the rib between, platinum-lined touch-holes, border engraved tang decorated with foliage and with a further starburst in the sighting groove, border engraved flat bevelled locks each signed in capitals and decorated with a part martial trophy and foliage at the stepped tail, foliate engraved cocks, semi-rainproof pans and rollers, figured half-stock with chequered rounded butt, steel trigger-guard with pineapple finial and decorated with a martial trophy and foliage on the border engraved bow, rear ramrod-pipe with finial en suite, vacant silver escutcheon, and brass-tipped ramrod with iron worm 21 cm. barrels Footnotes: A Richard Walter is recorded at Portsea, Hampshire, circa 1829 For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
