A 19TH CENTURY FRENCH SILVER AND ENAMEL TABLE VESTA, BY FRANÇOIS-DÉSIRÉ FROMENT-MEURICE (1802-1855) the hinged cover with finial depicting a winged putto holding torches atop a globe, a masked push-button opening to reveal a four section spring loaded interior, twin birds of paradise handles, mythological plaques and masks to the front and back, applied with round, oval, and rectangular foil backed paste stones, on a blue enameled ground, raised on four fire-breathing dragon form feet, engraved mark Froment Meurice. 11.5cm high A similar example was given to Prince Albert by Queen Victoria on his birthday, 26th August 1848. See the Royal Collection Trust. The enamel and stones are in excellent condition. The hinged cover closes tightly, and the interior mechanism functions correctly. Overall, it is in very good condition.
