A VICTORIAN WALNUT AND UPHOLSTERED SOFABY HOWARD & SONS, LATE 19TH CENTURYOne back leg stamped '17646 9776 HOWARD & SONS LTD BERNERS ST', the brass casters stamped 'HOWARD & SONS LONDON'79cm high, 188cm wide, 85cm deepFor a Howard & Sons sofa of the same form see Christies, Interiors, 22 May 2012, lot 272, (£10,625) Condition Report: There are scratches, marks, knocks, cracks and abrasions consistent with age and use.There are losses, observations and restorations including: the upholstery is a pale jumbo cord with some marks, wear, aging and compression to the tops of the arms and back; the cushions are heavy feather filled; the cappings to the casters are slightly loose, one missing a screw; some repairs including dowels to the back legs; the underside of the sofa has black nailed cloth and the frame has therefore not been inspected; there could be later wood to the frame where the front turned legs join the frame.Please see the additional photographs as a visual reference of condition. Condition Report Disclaimer
