Set of three 18 carat Gold Medals commemorating 25th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain. The Cause of Liberty, Special Issue of 18 carat Gold Medals commemorating 25th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain 1940-65, the set comprising three 18 carat gold medals with obverses depicting a crowned wreath with the RAF eagle insignia in the centre with the legend ‘COMMEMORATING 25 YEARS BATTLE OF BRITAIN’ and with reverses depicting a World War Two Spitfire viewed from above with the legend ‘NEVER IN THE FIELD OF HUMAN CONFLICT WAS SO MUCH OWED BY SO MANY TO SO FEW’, struck by Johnson, Matthey & Co. Limited, London in 1965 for Metalimport Ltd, only 500 complete sets sold, the medals weigh respectively 35g (diameter 40mm), 17.5g (diameter 32mm) & 8g (diameter 22mm), a total 18 carat gold weight of 60.5g (1.944oz), individually edge numbered and with individual certificates of guarantee, in velvet & satin lined Metalimport case of issue.
