A jewelled Russian silver kovsh, retailed by Orest Kurlyukov, Moscow, 1899-1908, maker's mark Cyrillic IT in a triangular punch, probably Ivan Tarabrov, 84 standard, the angular kovsh designed with stylised handle engraved with linear geometric designs, both this and the prow set with varicoloured cabochons of chalcedony, garnet and banded agate, 34cm long, 16cm high (inc. handle), approx. weight 27.6oz Provenance: The Geoffrey and Fay Elliot collection.Note: For a similar example see Lot 47, Christie's New York, Important Silver, Objects of Vertu and Russian Works of Art, 20th April 2000.
