The central panel is edged by a metal strip top and bottom to keep the two pieces of wood together. There is some craquelure in places which has started to lift, resulting in some small losses. See illustration. Some surface dirt. Under UV light a thick layer of varnish is apparent, however, there are some small isolated spots of retouching apparent to the central panel, and four more significant spots to the left.
