Flemish School, early 16th century A triptych, the central panel with St Jerome in the wilderness, the wings depicting St. Anthony Abbot and St. Francis receiving the stigmata oil on panel, arched top within an integrated frame 46 x 76cm overall Condition Report The central panel is comprised of two pieces of wood. The join has opened up creating a vertical split the length of the panel, see illustration. Verso, there is a small piece of wood applied to the lower edge across the join, this is missing at the top, see illustration. There is a second piece of wood to the lower left. The central panel is edged by a metal strip top and bottom to keep the two pieces of wood together. There is some craquelure in places which has started to lift, resulting in some small losses. See illustration. Some surface dirt. Under UV light a thick layer of varnish is apparent, however, there are some small isolated spots of retouching apparent to the central panel, and four more significant spots to the left.
