AN IMPRESSIVE LATE REGENCY ANGLO INDIAN CARVED EBONY BERGERE OPEN ARMCHAIR OF GENEROUS SIZE with moulded frame and elaborate leaf and flower head carved back centred by a double scalloped shell, leaf carved arms and vase shaped uprights; the base with scrolled leaf carved frieze and side rails raised on ringed leaf carved tapering legs. 73cm wide 105cm high The back leg has a split where the back seat rail is attached to the leg due to shrinkage. The chair is very solid and stable. there are very fine shrinkage cracks to the top back rail. All of the legs and arms are in good condition with no damage and there is no damage to the seat and armrest. There is a very small area of damage to the woven backrest (see images).
