S. Howard points out an incongruence in the coat of arms, which includes the ribbon of the Order of the Bath, but not the augmentation of the arms, a sea-horse between two eastern coronets and the word 'Havannah', both granted at the same time on 26 May 1761, thus suggesting that the service was ordered from China earlier that year.Cf.
