An attractive Dutch ebony ‘Haagse’ clock Circa 1680, Pierre Battard Haghe Hollandiae Hinged brass velvet-lined dial, engraved silver chapter ring with Roman numerals and outer minute marking, fine silver foliate pierced and engraved hands, hinged engraved lambrequin signature plate with date aperture and signed Pierre Battard Haghe Hollandiae. Brass movement with baluster pillars, finely pierced and engraved back cock, single spring barrel with double action, similarly signed Pierre Battard fecit Haghe Hollandiae on the back plate, verge escapement and silk suspended pendulum with cycloidal cheeks, hour striking with finely foliate pierced and engraved counter wheel on a bell. Ebony veneered case on four feet and suspended on two hoops, with broken arched pediment and half columns flanking the hinged glass door, moulded windows to the sides, interior with star-shaped marquetry, the back plate signed Pierre Battard Haghe Fecit Hollandiae.
