Inocêncio only mentions 24 preliminary pages, but the copy includes an unusual sheet with a «Catalogo dos livros, e relações manuscritas, em que se achaõ algumas memorias do estado do Maranhão», a true reference bibliography, added at the end of the third section (f. preliminary d) and before the beginning of the text. Two old handwritten belongings on title page. Otherwise, a copy slightly cropped but very clean. Contemporary full sheepskin binding, with new endpapers in marbled paper. Borba de Moraes also only mentions 12 preliminary leaves (Bibliographia brasiliana), I, p. 89: «This first edition is rare and much searched for since it is a classic on Maranhão».
