1873 25C Closed 3, No Arrows, PR66 Cameo NGC. Briggs 1-A. Two varieties of proof 1873 quarters are known. Briggs 1-A is the Closed 3, No Arrows variety, and Briggs 5-D is the Open 3, Arrows variety. Both share the same reverse die, identified by a die scratch across the middle of the left shield border. The present Closed 3, No Arrows proof is one of just 600 proofs issued. The lightly toned and well-struck surfaces exhibit obvious white-on-black cameo contrast.
