A PAIR OF SATSUMA BALUSTER VASES By Hododa, Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century Decorated in enamels and predominantly gilt with a full repertoire of rakan and their attributes; some of the rakan applied in ceramic high relief, each vase signed on the base Dai Nihon Satsumayaki Hododa tsukuru beneath the Satsuma crest.
