The scarcest variety of the issue, according to Guimaraes, who priced it higher than the 1786-R key-date. A marvelous representative of this last year where Maria was depicted mourning the loss of Pedro III. Rendered with intricate motifs that were curated to be especially sharp for the issue, with outstandingly lustrous surfaces upon which velveteen, cartwheeling fields radiate.
